Abstract

In half a century Korean society has changed from an agrarian society to an industrial society and then to an information oriented society. Such changes can be marked by external indicators such as the increase in per capita income, increase in average life span, and increase in internet distribution, but there are limitations to using such indicators to grasp the range and degree of social change. The purpose of this survey research lies in understanding the changes in Korean society by investigating the changes in personal values. The survey contents include the changes in personal and social values, the evaluation of the principal social groups of Korean society, social network, publicity, work orientation, professionalism, the market and capitalism, voting, political attitudes, attitudes towards foreign countries, and attitudes towards nation.
