KOSSDA processes deposited data according to its own guidelines, then uploads the data file along with the detailed metadata to the server and builds it into a digital DB. Once the DB is built, we will notify you data uploading through the website and start the online service. If necessary, information of how the deposit is used and for what purpose would be provided.
The copyright of the data deposited in KOSSDA is held by the depositor (institution). KOSSDA protects the copyright of the data by making sure that the data producer (institution) information is specified in the research results re-using the deposit data.
KOSSDA does not have the exclusive service authority for deposits, so you can deposit the data to KOSSDA and other institutions.

Data depositors can determine the level of access for the data they contribute. KOSSDA manages the data's access level based on the depositor’s request, categorized as 'public,' 'members-only,' or 'restricted access.'

  • Public access is available to all users visiting the KOSSDA website, member access is limited to KOSSDA registered members, and restricted access is granted to users who have applied for and received approval for data access as KOSSDA members.
  • In addition, depositors can choose to make their data immediately accessible after KOSSDA produces the dissemination package. For data that depositors (or deposit institutions) deems difficult to release at the current moment, they can set a release date and allow access to the data starting from that specified date.
KOSSDA allows users to use data in accordance with the terms and conditions of use of the data. KOSSDA made that users be required to specify the source of the data when using, referencing, or quoting the material in their research or work, thereby preventing unauthorized use of the data. After the end of the data usage period, the user will be informed again about the data disposal and quotation, and submission of the results using the data. In addition, we regularly track the research results of our users and do our best to avoid problems such as data abuse.
KOSSDA DB is built on cloud server and is managed safely from technical error and disaster.
