이 조사는 한국형사정책연구원이「전자감독제도 운영성과 분석 및 효과적인 개선방안에 관한 연구」에서 전자감독제도의 현황과 실태를 파악하고 보다 효과적인 전자감독제도 운용을 위한 방안을 모색하기 위한 목적으로 시행한 것이다. 이 자료는 업무시간 및 강도, 업무분장의 합리성, 전자감도제도 운영상의 문제점, 전자감독제도에서 가장 시급한 과제, 전자감독업무 관련 개선사항 등의 내용으로 구성되어 있다.
