Abstract
한국종합사회조사(Korean General Social Survey, KGSS)는 성균관대학교 서베이리서치센터가 한국사회의 변화와 국제비교 연구에 광범하게 이용될 수 있는 양질의 사회과학 기초자료를 생산하고자 2003년부터 매년 시행하는 전국 단위의 표본조사이다. KGSS는 미국 시카고대학교 NORC(National Opinion Research Center)의 GSS(General Social Survey)를 기본모형으로 삼고 유럽과 동아시아 국가들에서 시행되는 GSS 형태 조사들의 내용을 일부 수용함과 동시에 한국사회의 특수성도 고려하여 설계된다. KGSS 설문문항은 매년 반복해서 조사하는 반복핵심모듈, 전 세계 40여 국가들이 매년 공동으로 조사하는 ISSP(International Social Survey Programme) 주제모듈, 한국·중국·일본·대만의 동아시아 4개국이 격년으로 공동 개발하여 조사하는 EASS(East Asian Social Survey) 주제모듈, 특정 연구를 위해 개발한 특별주제모듈 등을 유기적으로 결합하는 방식으로 구성된다.
이 자료는 KGSS 2016년 자료로 정치태도와 사회의식, 일상생활 등을 다룬 반복핵심모듈, 정부의 역할을 다룬 ISSP 주제모듈, 동아시아의 가족을 다룬 EASS 주제모듈, 원자력발전 및 SNS 활용, 불평등과 정치참여, 유교 및 인간본성, 낙관주의 및 희망 등을 다룬 특별주제모듈로 구성되어 있다.

1. KGSS는 추출된 표본의 대체불허와 응답자 직접기입 금지의 원칙을 철저하게 준수한다.
2. KGSS는 조사가 완료된 후 추출된 표본을 실제로 면접조사 했는가를 전화와 방문을 통해 일일이 확인한다. 만일 표본대체 등 의심이 가는 사례가 발견될 경우 조사된 설문지는 모두 폐기된다.
