Institute for Social Development Studies at Yonsei University established in 1992, aims to contributing to the academic development of social science and the development of Korean society by promoting theoretical approaches to social development and conducting empirical research and analysis. It has four units under the theme of social comparison in East Asia, industrial society and labor, information society, and culture, and publishes the Journal of Modern Society and Culture. The major research topics include comparative research on the labor market in East Asia, and economic development and quality of life.
