Abstract

「한국종합사회조사」(Korean General Social Survey, KGSS)는 성균관대학교 서베이리서치센터가 한국사회의 구조 및 변화 연구나 국제비교 연구에 광범위하게 이용될 수 있는 공익 목적의 사회기초자료를 생산하고자 2003년부터 매년 시행하는 전국 단위의 대규모 시계열 조사이다. KGSS는 미국 시카고대학교 NORC(National Opinion Research Center)의 GSS(General Social Survey)를 기본모형으로 삼고 유럽과 동아시아 국가들에서 시행되는 GSS 형태 조사들의 내용을 일부 수용함과 더불어 한국사회의 특수성도 고려하여 설계된다.

KGSS의 설문지는 매년 반복해서 조사하는 반복핵심모듈, ISSP(International Social Survey Programme) 회원국들이 공동으로 조사하는 연차적 주제모듈, 한국·중국·일본·대만 등 동아시아 4개국이 격년 주기로 공동 개발하여 조사하는 EASS(East Asian Social Survey) 주제모듈, 그리고 특별 연구를 위해 개발한 주제모듈을 유기적으로 결합하는 방식으로 구성된다.

이 자료는 KGSS 2011년 조사에서 수집된 것으로 그 설문지는 반복핵심모듈에서 다루어지는 정치 및 사회 의식과 생활태도, ISSP의 2011년 주제모듈인 ‘건강’, 그리고 특별주제모듈인 ‘시민권, 이타주의, 기부행위’와 ‘노인차별(Ageism)’ 및 ‘인권의식’ 등에 관한 문항들을 포함하고 있다.
