Abstract

The 「Survey on Immigrant Children’s Right to Education」was conducted by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea to examine the school life of children for the purpose of providing policy measures to secure educational rights for the children of migrant workers and multicultural families. The survey was conducted among the children of immigrant families, their parents, and teachers respectively, and this data was collected from the parents of immigrant families.
The main contents of the survey include children’s life before entering school, time required for gaining admission, difficulties in gaining admission, source of assistance at time of admission, necessities in educating children, source of assistance in children’s school life, children’s experience of discrimination, performance of parent’s role related to children’s education, channel of acquiring information on school life, educational support needed, desired level of education of children, institution appropriate in providing information on education, effects of sojourn as unregistered alien on children’s education, parental guidance in case of alien regulation.
