Abstract

Social movements in Korea have contributed to the realization of Korea’s democratization, but research on social movements and activists remain rudimentary and peripheral. Thus the「Survey Research on the Social Movement Organizations and Activists and the Formation of Civil Society in Korea」was conducted to collect quantitative and qualitative data on Korean social movement organizations and activists. The「Survey on the Korean Social Movement after the 1960s」was conducted for the collection of quantitative data.
This survey was conducted separately among social movement organizations and activists and this data is on activists. The questionnaire includes contents on personal background of activists, participation in social movement/ forced to leave, period of participation, ideology and direction, official and unofficial relationships with other activists, and space of operation following forced leave and relation to past activities.
