Interview on the Differential Birthrate of Middle-Sized Cities(Icheon) in Korea, 1974

The purpose of this interview is to supplement the second survey on the differentials in birthrate in Korean middle town Icheon carried out in February of 1974 by conducting in-depth interviews of 67 women who had taken part in the survey. The survey on the differentials in birth rate was conducted in 1965 and 1974 to examine the differentials in fertility according to demographic and socioeconomic characteristics, attitudes towards family planning and its outcomes, as well as family values.
The main contents of the in-depth interview included basic personal profile and socioeconomic backgrounds related to childbirth(like level of education, religion, occupation, contact with the mass media, experience of living in the city), experience of pregnancy and childbirth, attitude towards family planning and number of children, marriage and moving out of the parent’s home as well as family life, and other special circumstances. The last part includes an after note by the interviewee.
