The「Jongno-gu Social Indicators Survey」was conducted for the purpose of understanding the various administrative demands for the improvement of Jongno-gu residents’ quality of life and to develop social indicators to be utilized for the establishment of long term plans for each branch of the district office and administrative standards for performance analysis.
For this purpose, the main interest areas and domains were selected considering the correlation with the long term plans of all branches of the district office as well as the pending issues of Jongno-gu at the time, and individual indicators were created accordingly. The collecting of data for the creation of indicators was conducted through various existing statistics and a survey was conducted simultaneously on topics such as the living conditions and public opinion of Jongno-gu citizens which were difficult to gauge through existing statistics.
As a part of the study a survey was conducted among male and female adults over the age of twenty residing in Jongno-gu, and this data was collected from the survey. The main contents include level of satisfaction with residential life, relations with neighbors, crime victimization, participation in community activities, condition of residence and level of satisfaction, assessment of local environmental problem, utilization of transportation and level of satisfaction, parking problem, assessment of education district, cost of private education, utilization of educational facilities within the gu and level of satisfaction, state of childrearing, level of satisfaction with childcare facility, state of elderly life, plans for old age, health, level of satisfaction with public health centers and medical facilities, state of cultural/leisure activities and level of satisfaction with related facilities, state of utilization of information communication, assessment of local administration, methods of resolving civil complaints, friendliness of public officials, household income and expenditure, and expectation of future living standards.
