Abstract

The「Survey on Planning Long-term Rural Development」was conducted by the Institute for Population and Development at Seoul National University (currently The Institute for Social Development and Policy Research) for the formation of a development index and local development strategies for each village necessary for the improvement of the lives of those residing in fishing, agrarian, and mountain villages. The survey was conducted with households and villages as separate targets and this data was collected from villages. The questionnaire includes questions on population, home ownership, housing facilities, natural disasters, transportation system, collaborative work, public facilities, occupational composition, land ownership, agricultural water, ownership and use of farm equipment, main product, automobile ownership, size of debt, membership in a mutual financing group, group tour, village sacrificial rites, organization and meetings, major resources, major industries, and desired industry.
