Abstract

This study was conducted as part of the ongoing research project entitled "Comprehensive Measures on Youth Problematic Behaviors" which started in 2003, and its goal is to investigate the current situation of youth problematic behaviors at home and school as well as the use of existing measures to improve the functions of home and school. This study first discusses theoretical trends in youth problems at home and school, finds disputed issues, and reviews literatures on the effectiveness of education programs at home and school. Second, it analyzes the current condition of juvenile crimes and other non-criminal problematic behaviors. Third, it analyzes the current condition of school’s related education using a survey of middle and high school students living in Seoul. Fourth, it analyzes youth policy directions and success cases in various countries. Finally, as countermeasures, it suggests prevention methods and policy reform directions.
