Abstract
이 조사는 한국형사정책연구원이 지역 또는 공간 단위의 범죄위험성 평가도구를 개발하고자 시행한 것이다. 자료는 서울시와 경기도 8개 시·구의 16개 동 지역에 거주하는 만 20세 이상 남녀 2,700명으로부터 수집되었다. 주요 조사내용은 지역유대감, 지역주민에 대한 신뢰, 집합효능감, 주민연결망, 지역사회 생활환경에 대한 평가, 지역애착심, 경찰활동 접촉경험, 지역사회 범죄환경에 대한 인식, 범죄에 대한 두려움, 범죄피해 경험, 범죄예방 지출에 대한 태도, 범죄예방 방안에 대한 의견 등이다.

1. 서울 강남구, 송파구, 은평구, 중랑구와 경기 구리시, 동두천시, 부천시, 성남시의 8개 시·구에서 각 2개동 총 16개 동을 조사지역으로 선정
2. 구리시와 동두천시에서는 동별로 165명을 조사하고, 그 외 지역에서는 동별로 170명을 조사
