Abstract

In 2009, the Busan Women and Family Development Institute conducted research on the development of a gender equality indicator on 7 areas including economy, family, health, welfare, culture, safety, and social participation to allow an objective comparison between the quality of life of men and women in the Busan area. This survey is a follow-up to the research conducted in 2009 and was conducted to collect data on various indicators on which data was not produced previously.
The content of the survey include job growth potential, meaning of success in life, income sufficiency, married couple's method of property registration, division of the cost of living and wedding expenses between husband and wife, possibility of giving up work for childrearing purposes, reason for both spouses working, preference for children's early education and study abroad, level of desire for plastic surgery, need for parental leave by men, subjects given priority for welfare support, number of times of participating in volunteer activities and amount of donations, experience of victimization from personal information leaks, need for expanding the installation of CCTVs, fear of crime, sanitation level of dining out environment, interest in the administration, and the need for affirmative action for the expansion of advancement of women to higher positions, etc.
