Abstract

This survey was conducted by the Busan Women and Family Development Institute to ascertain the demand for support policies related to childbirth and attitude toward pregnancy and childbirth as well as work-family balance, for the establishment of Busan Metropolitan City's childbirth support policy. The survey was conducted separately among married women and single men and women from the Busan area, and this data was collected from married women.
The main contents of the survey include year of childbirth, whether or not the pregnancy was planned, ideal number of children, intention of having children, intention of adopting, whether one has considered abortion, experience of abortion, information necessary during pregnancy, channel of acquiring information regarding pregnancy, experience of taking classes on pregnancy and childbirth, place of postnatal care, whether relationship with husband improved following childbirth, whether one has suffered from postpartum depression, division of household chores and childrearing with spouse, experience of resigning due to childbirth and reason for resignation, experience of utilizing maternity leave, difficulties in applying from maternity leave, period of maternity leave, difficulties when returning to work, experience of parental leave, period of parental leave, difficulties during parental leave, attitude toward low birthrate, experience of benefiting from childbirth support policy and inconveniences, need for policy supporting work-family balance, childbirth support policy which should be given priority at time of implementation etc.
