The 「Survey on the Lives of Second Generation Korean Immigrant Youth」 was conducted to collect data on the use of media by Korean youths in the US and their values, for the purpose of researching the influence of the Korean mass media on the identity formation of second generation Korean immigrant youths. The survey was conducted in 2007 and 2009 and this data was collected from the 2009 survey.
The main contents of the survey include use of Korean and US media, friendship, utilization of the internet related to Korea, ethnic identity, cultural identity, process of immigration, occupation and education level of parents, family members living in the same household, main language used within the household, proficiency in Korean and English, parents' views on children's education, and a sense of belonging toward the US and Korea.
