Abstract

This survey was conducted by the Busan Women and Family Development Institute to collect basic information and data on the state of child abuse including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect, and the level of awareness of parents and mandated reporters on child abuse, necessary for establishing child abuse prevention policies by the city of Busan. The survey was conducted among third through sixth graders and their parents and among mandated reporters required by the Child Welfare Act to report child abuse.
This data was collected from parents and the questionnaire was composed of questions on awareness of child abuse, awareness of child protection agencies, awareness of telephone number for reporting child abuse, awareness of mandatory reporting of child abuse, method of reporting when child abuse is witnessed, attitude related to reporting child abuse, awareness of the seriousness of various types of child abuse, attitude toward child abuse prevention measures, and child abuse education programs and prevention policies.
