Abstract

This survey was conducted by the Gyeongnam Development Institute to gauge the public’s opinion on the region’s policy issues to collect basic data for the establishment of Gyeongsangnam-do’s major policies. To deal with a variety of policy issues, the survey was designed to provide different questions for the two independently sampled target groups.
The questionnaire of the survey is composed of questions common to all surveys as well as question set 1 and 2 which are composed of varying contents. The common questions are on outlook on household economy, outlook on local economy, and local government branch for management focus. Question set 1 includes questions on central economic policy to be promoted, prospects of local industrial development, central agricultural policy to be promoted, follow-up measures for after launch of consolidated cities, need for a new international airport, prospects of promoting an innovation city, and expectations of the southern coastline project. Question set 2 includes questions on central employment policy to be promoted, support measures for the aged and employment for women, support measures for multicultural families, projected revenues from tourism, transportation infrastructure expansion plan, environmental policy promotion plan, focal administrative area for promotion, and measures for promoting administrative reform.
