Abstract

The survey was conducted by the Gyeongnam Development Institute to collect data on foreign workers for the purpose of providing support measures for the foreign workers in Geyongsangnam-do. Through this survey, conducted among the foreign workers residing in two cities and one county in the Gyeongnam area, data on working conditions, utilization of health and medical care services, daily life, discrimination and human rights abuse, and policy demands were collected.
The principal contents of the survey include reason for seeking employment in Korea, factors for consideration at time of employment, satisfaction with working conditions/working environment/relations with coworkers, job satisfaction, experience of industrial accident, method of dealing with industrial accident, medical facility used in case of illness, system of bearing medical costs, welfare facility within the workplace, experience of receiving health and medical care service benefits, satisfaction with health and medical care benefits, type of residence , satisfaction with residence, leisure activity, difficulties in childrearing, satisfaction with daily life, experience of discrimination and human rights violations, desired points for support from civil organizations and local government.
