Abstract

The 「Survey on Immigrant Children’s Right to Education」was conducted by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea to examine the school life of children for the purpose of providing policy measures to secure educational rights for the children of migrant workers and multicultural families. The survey was conducted among the children of immigrant families, their parents, and teachers respectively, and this data was collected from teachers of immigrant children.
The main contents of the survey include factors for consideration in assigning children to appropriate grades, source of assistance in teaching children, method of teaching Korean language, influence of immigrant children in managing a class, policy needed for the improvement of academic abilities, school’s support program, method of dealing with absence, reason for absence, prevention measures for drop-outs, visa verification and reason for verification, and awareness of policy on immigrant students.
