Abstract

The 「Survey on Immigrant Children’s Right to Education」was conducted by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea to examine the school life of children for the purpose of providing policy measures to secure educational rights for the children of migrant workers and multicultural families. The survey was conducted among the children of immigrant families, their parents, and teachers respectively, and this data was collected from the children of immigrant families.
The main contents of the survey include motives for entering Korea, life before entering school, difficulties in gaining admission, level of Korean language ability, institute where Korean language courses were taken, source of assistance in school life, peer relations, use of a Korean name, educational support needed, school life, experience of discrimination, reasons for urges to drop out, desired level of education, future plans, parental guidance in case of alien regulation, inconveniences in being without a visa, and entry into institute of higher education.
