Abstract
Recently IPTV companies are planning the introduction of an A La Carte pricing system differentiating from the Tier pricing system of cable television. Unlike the package payment system of the Tier pricing system the A La Carte pricing system is one which charges by the channel. This survey was conducted for the purpose of establishing policy on broadcast pricing by examining cable television users’ TV viewing habits and perceptions of broadcast service pricing.
The main contents of the survey include broadcast service currently subscribing to, main hours of viewing, average daily viewing time, reason for subscribing to broadcast service, elements for consideration in subscribing to broadcast service, reason for changing subscription of broadcast service, subscription costs of broadcast service, broadcast service product used, level of satisfaction with cost of broadcast service, appropriate number of channels, number of mainly viewed channels, mainly viewed programs, mainly viewed channel and frequency of viewing, preferred channel to view in the future, preferred payment plan, and number of channels willing to purchase.
