Abstract

The National Youth Policy Institute conducted the「Korean Youth Development Index Survey」from 2006 to 2008 for the establishment of a general index for the development and establishment of policies on youth, in 2009 it was renamed the「Korean Youth Index Survey」. This survey was conducted as a part of the 4th year「Korean Youth Index Survey」to produce indexes on the characteristics of career and occupation.
The survey contents are divided into perception of career/occupation, experience of career/occupation, and career/occupational competence. Contents on perception of career/occupation include important values in professional life, elements for success in professional life, and career decision and state of preparation. Contents on experience of career/occupation include experience of career counseling in schools and level of satisfaction, problems of career counseling in schools, experience of career counseling in household and institutions and level of satisfaction, experience of career preparations, and experience of working part time. Contents on career/occupational competence include understanding of self, knowledge of job, and rationality of career decision.
