Abstract

This survey was conducted to collect data for the establishment of Gyeonggi-do's childcare policy. This survey was conducted with a focus on understanding the current need for and state of infant childcare by working women and deals with contents on the state of childcare, demand for childcare policy, state of employment, and work and family life.
Contents on the state of childcare include primary caregiver of child at different stages of growth, current primary caregiver, and state of care provided per type of childcare. Contents on demand for childcare policy include awareness and need for infant childcare policy, infant childcare facility in need of expansion, elements for consideration in utilizing childcare services, and optimal size of infant childcare facility and childcare cost.
Contents on the state of employment include type of occupation and position, whether or not utilizing childcare support system offered by employer, workdays, hours of work, and starting and ending time of work. Contents on work and family life include primary caregiver responsible for childrearing, level of husband's participation in household chores and childcare, burdensome elements of childrearing, and difficulties in carrying out responsibilities both at home and at work.
