Gallup Korea is conducting a monthly omnibus survey based on the same research design. An omnibus survey incorporates multiple topics commissioned by various institutions and corporations into one survey. Thus, an omnibus survey can collect data more efficiently in terms of cost and time required compared to ad-hoc survey dealing with single topics. The「Gallup Omnibus Survey」is conducted among around 1,500 samples in a face to face interview for each survey and covers various political, economic, social and cultural topics including political attitudes, economic index, national consciousness, daily life and leisure time.
This data collected in December of 2008 is composed of contents on horoscopes, fortunetelling, destiny/fate, marital compatibility, physiognomy, and the Lunar New Year holiday. The contents on fortunetelling include credibility of fortunetelling and horoscopes etc., experience of visiting a fortuneteller, experience of using an internet horoscope service, and whether one consults horoscope/fortunetelling in making personal decisions. Contents on the Luna New Year holidays include whether one celebrates the Lunar New Year’s, commemorative rites for ancestors, regions visited during holiday and transportation used, attitude towards Lunar New Year, experience of playing Korean traditional games of yut and hwatu.
