Survey on Happiness by the Chosun Ilbo, 2010 : Malaysia

The Chosun Ilbo conducted the 『Survey on Happiness』to produce a happiness index of the citizens of countries around the world for an international comparison. This survey was conducted among 5,190 citizens of 10 countries including South Korea, Denmark, Malaysia, the United States, Vietnam, Brazil, Indonesia, Canada, Finland, and Australia. The overseas survey target countries are those which have recorded among the very top from previous surveys related to happiness by Gallup of the United States and the New Economic Foundation of Great Britain.
This data was collected from the citizens of Malaysia and the questionnaire is composed of questions which allows the identification of the public's perception and attitude toward the political, economic, and social conditions. Specific questions include, threat of neighboring countries, fear of terror attacks, experience of victimization from domestic conflicts, frequency of political debates, perception of president and politicians, experience of victimization from corruption and attitude towards corruption, perception of the wealthy, level of income needed for attaining happiness, concerns regarding housing, household debt, the influence of government budget cuts on happiness, experience of the dismantling/separation of family, perception of family, attitude towards giving birth overseas, reason for low birthrate, perception of religion, concerns over the invasion of privacy, future cause of death, confidence in secondary education, threatening elements for future generations, intention of domestic residence, the happiest person, personal happiness, whether one is Korean and the evaluation of the happiness of Koreans, etc.
