Abstract
At the end of each year SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) is conducting the SBS New Year Public Opinion Poll to identify the public's opinion on the important political issues as well as state affairs to be addressed in the new year.
This data was collected to forecast the new year in 2011 and includes contents on priorities in issues faced by the government, basis for North Korea policy, likelihood of provocation by North Korea, military's course of responding to provocation by North Korea, perception of the state of security, pros and cons of promoting business exchange between North and South Korea (food aid, Mount Gumgang tourism, Gaesong Industrial Complex), anticipated approach to reunification, whether or not in agreement with the ratification of the Korea-US FTA by the National Assembly, pros and cons of a constitutional amendment of the 5 year single term system, promotion of the Four River Restoration Project, pros and cons of the sales activities of large discount stores, whether the general public is benefiting from tax cut policies, approval ratings of the next presidential candidates, ideological tendencies of the next government, and issues of the presidential elections, etc. In addition, the questionnaire includes questions on political indicators such as approval ratings of the president's state administration, and party approval ratings, etc.
