Abstract

This survey was conducted by SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) around the Lunar New Year of 2010 to ascertain the public's opinion on important political issues such as the Sejong city amendment, judicial reform, Summit between North and South Korea, and local elections.
The main contents of the survey include pros and cons of the Sejong city amendment, likelihood of the Sejong city amendment passing and direction for handling, responsibility for Sejong city related conflicts, Chung Un-Chan prime minister's ability to assert control, need for a national referendum regarding the amendment, possibility of aborting the building of Sejong city, whether the pride of Chungcheong residents has been undermined, need for a presidential apology, whether the amendment with influence local elections, urgent areas of judicial reform, conditions and period of a North-South Summit, important qualifications of local election candidates, variables effecting local elections, etc.
In addition, political indicators such as approval rating of the president's state administration and approval ratings of political parties were also investigated.
The actual number of samples for this survey is 1,500 including the 500 sampled from the Daejeon, Chungnam, and Chungbuk areas in addition to the 1,000 nationwide. This data includes a weight variable which will produce results based on sample of 1,000 proportional to the national population.
