SBS New Year’s Day Public Opinion Survey, 2009

This survey was conducted by the SBS Broadcasting Company to collect public opinion on pending political issues on the occasion of the 2009 Lunar New Year.
The major survey topics included contentious legislations (prohibition of cross-ownership of industrial and financial companies, Broadcasting Act, Law on Assembly and Demonstration, Cyber Defamation Act, Protection of Communications Secrets Act, Korea-U.S.A. FTA), deliberation method of contentious legislations, responsibility for violent incidents in the National Assembly, passing of a law on the prevention of violence in the National Assembly, passing of a law limiting the Speaker of Assembly’s authority to introduce a bill, assessment of cabinet reshuffling, responsibility for the Yongsan demolition incident, opinion on the Minerva case, and national tasks on economic policy which should be given priority. The survey also sought political and economic indicators such as approval rating of the President’s management of national affairs, approval of political parties, and economic forecasts.
