Abstract

The「Korean Innovation Survey」(KIS) is a survey research project undertaken by the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) to promote the study of technological innovation by collecting data for the examination of overall corporate activities on technological innovation. The survey was designed based on the basic model of the CIS (Community Innovation Survey) conducted by the OECD and the European Union to allow international comparisons, with the addition of reflecting the specialized characteristics of the Korean case. The survey was conducted since 1996 among the manufacturing and service sectors switching every other year, this data was collected from the manufacturing sector in 2008.
The questionnaire of this survey includes contents on general corporate information, overall state of innovation, state of product innovation, state of manufacturing innovation, state of organizational innovation, state of marketing innovation, cost of innovation activities, assessment of impediments to innovation, utilization of government support programs, state of patents, and attitude towards openness and responses.
