Abstract

This survey was conducted by the JoongAng Ilbo (daily newspaper) to find out the approval ratings among preliminary candidates for the elections of local government leaders in 7 metropolitan cities and 9 provinces including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Jeju prior to「The 3rd Nationwide Regional Elections」held on June 13th 2002.
This is a collection of data from the 16 metropolitan cities and provinces and, along with the approval ratings among preliminary candidates, includes contents on intention of voting, party identification, attitude towards major election issues, foremost regional issues, evaluation on local government, measures for dealing with negligence by head of local government, considerations in casting vote, measures for local council management. Each set of data includes weight variable based on the number of voters by sex and age.
