Abstract
This data is the collection of 11 election public opinion polls conducted by the JoongAng Ilbo (daily newspaper) to find out the approval ratings in a simulated election among preliminary candidates for the elections of local government leaders in 3 metropolitan cities and 5 provinces including Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungnam, Chungbuk, and Jeju prior to「The 3rd Nationwide Regional Elections」held on June 13th 2002. Two sets of data were collected from Seoul, Daejeon, and Gangwon areas where the questionnaire is designed in two different forms of A and B.
The data, along with the approval ratings among preliminary candidates, includes contents on interest in election, foremost regional issues, considerations in casting vote, preferred candidate’s career, possible winning party, evaluation on current regional leadership, and party identification. Each set of data includes weight variable based on the number of voters by sex and age.
