Abstract

Gyeonggi-do has a relatively high rate of international marriages compared to other areas and not only has a high number of marriage immigrant women but also foreign men who are married to Korean women. The purpose of this survey is to examine the family life and state of international marriage immigrants in Gyeonggi-do and to seek support policy measures. The survey was conducted separately among families with foreign husband and families with foreign wife, and this data was collected from foreign wives, their husbands, and parents-in-law. The questionnaire is composed of contents on process of international marriage, family and spousal relations, child rearing and relationship with children, social life and economic activity, state of welfare and need for welfare services, personal matters, and attitudes of parents-in-law towards their children and grand children.
