Abstract

Gallup Korea is conducting a monthly omnibus survey based on the same research design. An omnibus survey incorporates multiple topics commissioned by various institutions and corporations into one survey. Thus, an omnibus survey can collect data more efficiently in terms of cost and time required compared to ad-hoc survey dealing with single topics. The Gallup Korea omnibus survey collects around 1500 samples for each survey conducted in a face to face interview method and covers various social and economic topics including marketing index, political index, public attitudes, economic situation awareness, and state of media utilization.
This data collected in November of 2006 is composed of contents on financial outlook for 2007, attitude towards society in general, and personal happiness. Contents on the outlook for 2007 are household and national economies, the unemployed, employment security, job opportunity, labor disputes, international disputes, feasibility of resolving international issues. Contents on social consciousness are attitude towards leader, international challenges, outlook on the next generation’s society, use of media and level of trust, attitude towards Islamic society, attitude towards the environment and gender equality. Contents on personal happiness are subjective degree of happiness, attitude towards the components of happiness, and changes in degree of happiness in comparison to the previous year.
