Abstract
이 자료는 1960년대 한국정부가 한국의 인구증가율을 통제하고자 국제기관과 연계하여 인구정책을 추진하는 과정에서 한국주재 인구위원회 관계자와 미국 인구위원회 관계자들이 주고받은 서신들을 모은 것이다. 서신이 작성된 시기는 1964년부터 1967년 사이이며 서신의 내용은 주로 한국의 가족계획 프로그램의 수행현황과 코멘트, 예산관련 보고 및 요청사항 등이다. 특히 이 자료에는 동아시아 주재 대표였던(Resident Representative for East Asia) S. M. Keeny가 콘돔의 생산 및 보급과 관련하여 Dr. Kirk(Director, Demographic Division, the Population council, NY)와 R. K. Anderson(Director, Technical Assistance Division, the Population Council, NY) 등 미국 인구위원회 담당자들에게 보내는 서신이 상당수 포함되어 있으며, 그 외 한국 여성들의 루프(loof) 사용에 대한 관찰 및 코멘트와 한국정부기관 담당자와 연구자에게 보내는 서신도 있다.
