Abstract

Gallup Korea is conducting a monthly omnibus survey based on the same research design. An omnibus survey incorporates multiple topics commissioned by various institutions and corporations into one survey. Thus, an omnibus survey can collect data more efficiently in terms of cost and time required compared to ad-hoc survey dealing with single topics. The Gallup Korea omnibus survey collects around 1500 samples for each survey conducted in a face to face interview method and covers various social and economic topics including marketing index, political index, public attitudes, economic situation awareness, and state of media utilization.
This data collected in March of 2003 deals with politics, economy, reunification, and diplomacy. Contents on politics are evaluation of president’s government administration, party identification, supporting presidential candidate, and contents on economy are priority among economic challenges, subjective recognition of economic situation, subjective class consciousness, economic sentiment, contents on reunification and diplomacy are attitude towards reunification, North Korea nuclear weapons issue, aid to North Korea, possibility of war, withdrawal of US troops in Korea, and relations with neighboring countries.
