Urbanization in Korea has continued since the Korean War and the migration into major cities have rapidly progressed since the 1960s. Such migration led to a social and economic change in large cities. The Institute for Population and Development of Seoul National University conducted the「Survey on Urban Life」to explore the lives of city dwellers as a result of urbanization.
This survey data was collected from citizens of Seoul on household backgrounds and living conditions. The questionnaire of this survey includes contents on education level and occupation of household members, period of residence in Seoul, point of migration and reason for migrating to Seoul, size of previous city of residence, type of current residence, list of household goods, objective awareness of standard of living, monthly average expenditure, household income, and primary caregiver.
