Abstract

The「Youth Development Index Survey」is a part of the「Korean Youth Development Index Survey」conducted for the purpose of creating a database by developing a systematic and comprehensive index for the development and establishment of policies for youths by the Korea Institute for Youth Development. The survey is being conducted yearly following the first survey in 2006 among middle school and high school students nationwide to produce 17 subjective indexes pertaining to the outcome categories(physical health, affective characteristics, cognitive characteristics, social capacity, civic capacity, vocational capacity etc.) of the Youth Development Index, and this data was constructed from the second year survey conducted in 2007.
The questionnaire is composed of 5 characteristic domains and 17 sub-domains. Self-concept, happiness, and goal orientation are included in the affective characteristic domain. Creativity, self motivated learning readiness, and problem solving ability are included in the cognitive characteristic domain. Social trust, pro-social, and social skills are included in the social characteristic domain. Attitude towards human rights, attitude towards nation, attitude towards globalization, attitude towards community, attitude towards social participation, and attitude towards healthy consumption are included in the civic characteristic domain. Taking initiative in career choice, understanding of vocational characteristics, and preparation activities for career goal are included in the vocational characteristic domain.
