Abstract
The「Worker’s Health Survey in Korea」is a survey conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute every 5 years since 1998 to collect data on the working environment and state of health of workers. The purpose of this survey is to examine the state of health and health management of workers at their job sites to get an understanding of the conditions of industrial health management at the workplace to provide basic data for the establishment of worker health related policy. The「Worker’s Health Survey in Korea」was conducted in 1998 with the respondent targets divided into workplaces and workers, and starting in 2003 the worker group was divided into manufacturing industry workers, and non-manufacturing industry workers.
The Korea Social Science Data Archive offers a cumulative version of the data collected from the「Worker’s Health Survey in Korea」for time series research. This data includes all variables from the 1998 and 2003 surveys of manufacturing and non-manufacturing industry workers. The 1998 survey includes contents on complaints of symptoms, satisfaction level of services offered in reaction to complaints, percentage of unfulfilled medical needs, working environment related to workers’ health, drinking, smoking, and health management. The 2003 survey includes contents on conditions of workplace, workers’ state of health, work and working environment, smoking, drinking, health management, sleep and rest, evaluation of working conditions and working environment, and work experience.
