Abstract
The「Korean Innovation Survey (KIS)」is a research project undertaken by the Korean Science and Technology Policy Institute to promote the study of technological innovation by collecting data for the examination of overall corporate activities on technological innovation. The survey was designed based on the basic model of the CIS (Community Innovation Survey) conducted by the OECD and the European Union to allow international comparisons, with the addition of reflecting the specialized characteristics of the Korean case. The survey was conducted since 1996 among the manufacturing and service sectors switching every other year, this data was collected from the manufacturing sector in 2002.
The questionnaire includes contents on corporate information (industry, type of corporation, number of employees, financial status, merger and acquisition), innovative activities and results (execution of technological/non-technological innovations and their results), source of information for innovation (degree of innovative contribution per source of information), purpose of innovation (degree of importance per purpose of innovation), technological acquirement and transfer (patent and intellectual property rights, cooperation and methods of technological cooperation), methods of technology protection, R&D activities (spending records, size of personnel, facilities), obstacles of innovation, and influence of innovative activities (percentage taken up by sales and export of innovative product).

「한국의 기술혁신활동조사」는 1996년 제1차 조사를 시작으로 2008년 5차 조사까지 실시되었다. KOSSDA 에서는 2002년 제조업부문조사(A1-2002-0067), 2003년 서비스업부문조사(A1-2003-0071), 2005년 제조업부문조사(A1-2005-0021), 2006년 서비스부문조사(A1-2006-0082), 2008년 제조업부문조사(A1-2008-0016) 자료를 이용할 수 있다.
