Abstract
The percentage of female employees in the domestic hotel industry, nearing 40%, is very high compared to other industries. However, most female employees of the hotel and hospitality sector are concentrated in lower positions such as reception or simple administrative areas and the percentage of females in managerial positions such as CEOs or general managers are very low. Such gender based discrimination and limited opportunities for advancement and promotion are acting as a glass ceiling for female hotel employees.
Thus a study on「The Effect of Female Hotel Employees’ Perception of a Glass Ceiling on Job Attitudes」was conducted, and this study assumes an analytical model with the glass ceiling as an exogenous variable, and job satisfaction, organizational commitment, organizational adaptability as parametric endogenous variables, and turnover intention as an endogenous variable. This survey was conducted to collect data for verifying the validation of the analytical model of the study, and thus the questionnaire of this survey is composed of questions on attitude towards glass ceiling, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, organizational adaptability, turnover intention, and service productivity.
