The Korean broadcasting industry has experienced continual changes during the last 30 years. In 1980 due to the merger and abolition of the media private broadcasting disappeared and a public broadcasting monopoly was maintained until 1990 when private broadcasting was introduced once again followed by cable broadcasting in 1995 which sparked the competition among broadcasting companies. Recently, with the introduction of new media such as the internet the reduction of television viewership has led to new challenges for broadcasting companies. This survey was conducted to examine the competitive programming among ground wave broadcast channels as well as the diversity of programming and viewer behavior.
The questionnaire includes contents on program genre, broadcast day of the week, broadcast month and date, type of broadcast, frequency of regular programming, frequency of rebroadcast programming, first broadcast month and date, outsourcing, production body, ratings, and share.
