Abstract
The「National Public Opinion Survey on the 1st Trial of the May 18th Democratic Uprising」was conducted twice in a one week interval by the Gwangju Social Research Center (currently the Korea Social Research Center) and the May 18 Memorial Foundation. The survey was designed to be utilized as historical data for the evaluation of the May 18th Democratic Uprising by examining the public opinion on the 1st trial results of those concerned with the May 18th Democratic Uprising. This survey is the first of the two public opinion surveys and was conducted in the form of asking the opinions of those who have not been in contact with the evaluation of the media and experts on the May 18th Democratic Uprising. The questionnaire includes contents on evaluation of the trial on 5.18, opinion on the sentencing, examination of the truth, and the 5.18 commemorative enterprise.
