Abstract

The「Survey on Foreign Worker Employment」 was conducted to provide essential data in establishing directions for policy on foreign workers by investigating their employment conditions. The survey is composed of data collected from companies employing foreign workers and foreign workers themselves. This is the survey conducted among companies.
The questionnaire is composed of contents on employment of foreign workers, wage and working conditions, and state of work site. The section on the employment of foreign workers includes questions on the state of foreign worker employment, reasons for not employing, opinion on undocumented workers, opinion on problems of fraud in overseas employment, opinion on the process and application terms of training companies, reason for hiring foreign workers, and future plans for employment. The questions on wages and working conditions include personal characteristics of currently employed foreign workers, wage level, wage increase, problems in employing foreign workers, country of origin, productivity, level of hiring costs in comparison to domestic workers, work environment, and transferring to trained employee. The section on state of work site includes questions on state of assets, total sales, state of workers, level of domestic wages, and efforts to recruit in case of labor shortage.
