Abstract

The population of senior citizens has been rapidly increasing since 1990, and with the increasing interdependence and close connection between the different parts of society, it is both impossible and unadvisable for the family or society alone to assume responsibility for the support of the elderly. There is a need for a variety of programs for the support and management of the role of the family and community with the community playing a central role. Thus, the purpose of this survey is to present a variety of policies to improve the lives of the elderly by understanding the conditions of their current quality of life. In order to get a deeper understanding of people’s emotions, attitudes, and psychological state, qualitative surveying and focus group interview surveys were simultaneously conducted. The qualitative survey includes topics of the physical wellbeing of the elderly as well as physiological and mental well-being, an overall degree of satisfaction in life, financial status, residential preference, and attitude towards support, social aid, participation in social and leisure activities and the level of satisfaction.
