Since previous studies on prison industries approaches the subject from a business perspective dealing with increasing productivity or profitability they neglect the correctional aspect such as what kind of effect prison labor has on inmates. The purpose of this study is to examine inmates’ attitude towards prison labor and the working conditions of prison industries. The questionnaire includes contents on inmates’ everyday life, working conditions, work satisfaction, safety precautions in the work place, work commitment, evaluation of the effects of prison labor, product quality of prison industries, improvement measures for prison labor, occupation before imprisonment, plans for after release from prison, outlook on life, sense of values, level of satisfaction with prison life, and relations with correctional officers.
