This survey was conducted among Korean citizens as a part of the「International Crime Victimization Survey」conducted to supplement the insufficiencies of official crime statistics provided by criminal justice institutions of each country. The 「International Crime Victimization Survey」is a survey focused on the victims and designed to expose hidden crimes not included in the official statistics and applies the same questionnaire for all countries to accurately grasp the state of crime in the 70 countries and produce data allowing for comparative studies on crime between the countries. The questionnaire includes 13 different kinds of crime victimization including auto theft, auto part/commodities theft, car damage, motorcycle theft, bicycle theft, house robbery, attempted house robbery, burglar, personal robbery, crimes of sexual violence, violence, injury, blackmail, consumer fraud, and corruption.
