Abstract
The relationship between the elderly and crime can be examined in two aspects of crimes committed by the elderly and the elderly as the victims of crime. Thus, like any other crime, crimes by the elderly can be comprehensively understood when both the side of the victim and characteristics of the offender are considered. 「Survey on Records of Crimes by the Elderly」 and 「Survey on Crime and Criminal Victimization of the Elderly」 were conducted to present useful data on establishing measures for reducing crimes committed by the elderly as well as prevent the crime victimization of the elderly. This data was collected based on the case trial records deposited at the prosecutor’s office in Seoul, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Busan and includes contents on type of crime, existence of concurrent offenses, details on offender, details related to crime, status following the crime, and details on victim.
