Female inmates in most societies are treated as forgotten offenders in comparison to male inmates. Furthermore, prison facilities for female inmates are also often neglected and lack the attention and investment received by male prison facilities.「Survey on the Treatment of Female Inmates」was conducted to examine the treatment of female inmates and collect primary data needed to recommend measures for improvement. This survey is composed of data on correctional facilities and the values and attitudes of female inmates and was collected from 41 correctional facilities nationwide. The questionnaire is composed of contents on the state of convicted and under trial prisoners per gender, inmate population per term of imprisonment, size of common area, maximum number of occupancy of common area, staff, facilities within inmate areas, inmate treatment program, and number of accommodated male and female participants per program.
