Kang, Eun-Young / Korean Institute of Criminology
Although it has been proven through multiple studies that sexual abuse of children is wide spread in Korean society the issue has been neglected by systematic academic research or dealt with only as a type of general sexual violence. This survey was conducted to examine the state of child sex abuse, which has been concealed thus far, through the study of counseling records and to establish preliminary data needed for systemic and criminal justice measures. The questionnaire includes contents on types of sexual abuse, characteristics of victims of sexual abuse, characteristics of sex abuser, act of sexual abuse, after effects of sexual abuse, reactions to sexual abuse, making charges and reporting.
